(N/A) Synovial joints are characterized by the presence of a fluid-filled synovial cavity between the articulating surfaces of the two bones. Such an arrangement allows for considerable movement. These joints help in locomotion and many other movements.
There are $6$ main types of synovial joints:
$(i)$ Ball and socket joint: Between humerus and pectoral girdle.
$(ii)$ Hinge joint: Knee joint or elbow joint.
$(iii)$ Pivot joint: Between atlas and axis vertebrae.
$(iv)$ Gliding joint: Between the carpals.
$(v)$ Saddle joint: Between carpal and metacarpal of thumb.
