(C) The provided figure illustrates the process of secondary growth in a dicot root. Secondary growth in dicot roots occurs due to the activity of the vascular cambium and the cork cambium. The vascular cambium originates from the tissue located just below the phloem bundles,a portion of the pericycle tissue,above the protoxylem,forming a complete,wavy ring which later becomes circular. This cambium cuts off secondary xylem towards the inner side and secondary phloem towards the outer side. This leads to an increase in the girth of the root,which is characteristic of dicotyledonous plants.
