These enzymes are capable of digesting carbohydrates,proteins,lipids,and nucleic acids. When the cell gets damaged or its metabolic processes are disturbed,lysosomes may burst,and the enzymes digest their own cell organelles. Hence,they are known as the 'suicide bags' of the cell.
