(N/A) In human beings, the first menstruation begins at puberty ($9$ to $15$ years) and is called menarche. The menstrual cycle stops at the age of approximately $50$ years, which is called menopause.
Menarche indicates the onset of the reproductive phase in a female, signifying that the reproductive system is maturing and capable of supporting pregnancy. It indicates that the ovaries have begun producing mature ova (female gametes) and the uterus is prepared for the growth and development of a fetus.
Menopause indicates the end of the reproductive phase. At this age,the ovaries stop producing mature eggs, and the production of reproductive hormones (estrogen and progesterone) significantly decreases or ceases. Consequently, the menstrual cycle stops, and the uterus is no longer prepared for the development of an embryo.
