(B) The reaction of benzene with a mixture of concentrated $HNO_3$ and concentrated $H_2SO_4$ is known as nitration. At $50-60^\circ C$,benzene undergoes mononitration to form nitrobenzene. However,at higher temperatures like $90^\circ C$ or above,the reaction proceeds further to form $m-$dinitrobenzene because the nitro group $(-NO_2)$ is a deactivating and meta-directing group.
