During this reaction,the energy released from the cleavage of the high-energy thioester bond of succinyl-$CoA$ is used to synthesize a high-energy phosphate molecule. In animal cells,this process results in the formation of $GTP$ (guanosine triphosphate) from $GDP$ and inorganic phosphate $(\Pi)$ via substrate-level phosphorylation. $GTP$ can subsequently transfer its terminal phosphate to $ADP$ to form $ATP$.
