The female reproductive system consists of a pair of ovaries,a pair of oviducts (Fallopian tubes),the uterus,the vagina,external genitalia,and mammary glands.
Ovaries perform functions such as the production of the ovum (oogenesis) and the secretion of female sex hormones (estrogen and progesterone).
The oviduct (Fallopian tube) transports the ovum from the ovary to the uterus and serves as the site for fertilization.
The uterus is an inverted pear-shaped organ that provides the necessary environment for the development of the embryo during pregnancy.
The vagina serves as the birth canal during delivery,receives the penis during coitus,and allows for the passage of menstrual flow.
