(C) The given reaction is a $Cross-Cannizzaro$ reaction between formaldehyde $(HCHO)$ and benzaldehyde $(C_6H_5CHO)$ in the presence of concentrated $NaOH$.In a $Cross-Cannizzaro$ reaction,the more reactive aldehyde (formaldehyde) undergoes oxidation to form a salt of the carboxylic acid,while the less reactive aldehyde (benzaldehyde) undergoes reduction to form an alcohol.$1$. Formaldehyde $(HCHO)$ is more reactive towards nucleophilic attack,so it gets oxidized to sodium formate $(HCOONa)$,which upon acidification $(H_3O^+)$ gives methanoic acid $(HCOOH)$.$2$. Benzaldehyde $(C_6H_5CHO)$ gets reduced to phenylmethanol $(C_6H_5CH_2OH)$.Therefore,the products are methanoic acid and phenylmethanol.
