Thus,the force $F_R$ on $P$ due to $R$ is directed towards $R$ (downwards).Wire $P$ carries current into the plane,while wire $Q$ carries current out of the plane (opposite directions),so they repel each other. Thus,the force $F_Q$ on $P$ due to $Q$ is directed away from $Q$ (to the left).The resultant force $F$ is the vector sum of $F_Q$ and $F_R$.
