In the presence of anhydrous $AlCl_3$,an intramolecular Friedel-Crafts acylation occurs. The acyl group attacks the ortho position relative to the $-OH$ group (which is now part of the ester linkage) to form a cyclic compound. The methoxy group $(-OMe)$ is an ortho-para directing group,and the cyclization occurs to form the most stable bicyclic structure,which is the coumarin derivative shown in option $D$.
