However,a Grignard reagent cannot be formed with a hydrogen atom ($HMgX$ does not exist). Therefore,formic acid cannot be prepared using this method. Acetic acid $(CH_3COOH)$ can be prepared using methylmagnesium bromide $(CH_3MgBr)$,and succinic acid can be prepared using appropriate di-Grignard reagents.
