(B) The reaction is the nitration of phenyl benzoate using concentrated $HNO_3$ and $H_2SO_4$.In phenyl benzoate $(C_6H_5COOC_6H_5)$,there are two benzene rings. The ring attached to the oxygen atom of the ester group is more activated towards electrophilic aromatic substitution due to the $+M$ effect of the oxygen atom.The $-CO-$ group attached to the other ring is electron-withdrawing ($-I$ and $-M$ effects),which deactivates that ring.Therefore,the electrophile $(NO_2^+)$ attacks the ring attached to the oxygen atom.Due to the $+M$ effect of the $-O-$ group,the ortho and para positions are activated. The para position is sterically less hindered than the ortho position,making the para-substituted product the major one.Thus,the major product is $4$-nitrophenyl benzoate.
