(A) The reaction of aniline $(C_6H_5NH_2)$ with acetic anhydride $(CH_3CO)_2O$ is an acetylation reaction. In this reaction,the lone pair of electrons on the nitrogen atom of the aniline attacks the carbonyl carbon of the acetic anhydride. This leads to the formation of $N$-phenylethanamide,commonly known as acetanilide $(C_6H_5NHCOCH_3)$,and acetic acid $(CH_3COOH)$ as a byproduct. The reaction is: $C_6H_5NH_2 + (CH_3CO)_2O \rightarrow C_6H_5NHCOCH_3 + CH_3COOH$ Therefore,the major product is $N$-phenylethanamide.
